How We Built a Partner Ecosystem Within One Month of Product Launch!

It was just a month back that we celebrated the 1st Corporate Connect Meet of Opteamize at the IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai. Here is a summary of what went down.

Opteamize Corporate Connect Meet

Opteamize Cloud Solutions Pvt Ltd IS an IBM Business Partner offers solutions that optimize academic (project), business (prospect) and recruitment (placement) processes in a SaaS model. The interesting part was that the partners came on board less than a month back and within days of product launch!

Opteamize is a member of the IBM Global Entrepreneur Program and in recent days we have been prominently featured in leading magazines like Dataquest, Voice & Data, BISInfotech, and also in ‘The New Indian Express’.

I joined Opteamize recently as Head Business Success and am enabling the branding and positioning of the various solutions, expanding the Partner Services ecosystem, representing them at conferences/meetups and providing support to marketing through developing and reviewing offline and online content.

What is Corporate Connect?

Opteamize Corporate Connect is a solution that addresses the employability issues for final year students of professional courses and job aspirants. A staggering 80% of the 60 lakh aspirants for jobs in IT companies have been deemed as unemployable. Over the last few years, the Indian Government, NASSCOM, National Skills Development Council (NSDC), Universities/Colleges and several well-meaning institutions like ICTACT & Training/Assessment companies have been working hard to bring down this number.

Corporate Connect is a humble attempt to join hands with the above group and help solve the employability problem in our own unique way via a student-friendly, technology-driven, disruptive business model driven by our IBM Partnership.

Subscription to ‘Corporate Connect’ gives an opportunity to students and job aspirants to hone their technical skills, build simple mobile and web applications, get a professional CV, understand latest technology trends and receive push notifications about potential opportunities in the industry whilst also receiving a certificate from IBM upon fulfillment of the certification criteria. We then help connect them to IT companies for suitable jobs and internships.

Why the Corporate Meet?

Subsequent to the release of the Opteamize product beta on June 15th, The Opteamize team traveled to various cities in Tamil Nadu (our initial focus State) and assessed the infrastructure, capability, and competence of various Project Centers and Training Institutes. This was a 3 stage process. Our team first shortlisted over 100 of them through an online search and further pruned them after validating their suitability and checking their antecedents on various social media sites including complaint forums.

We then met over 20 of them personally for discussions with their management and for demoing our product. We then finalized 6 partners who would join hands with us in taking the Opteamize Product to the academic institutions and students. These 6 partners were invited to Chennai and take part in the 1st Corporate Connect Partner Meet.

Agenda

The agenda was as follows:

  • Introductions & Inauguration
  • Keynote from Mr. Gomathi Nayagam, IBM Cloud Business Leader – TN, KL & Sri Lanka, Enterprise Business Unit – South, IBM India Pvt Ltd.
  • Technical Session on Bluemix from Mr. Mani Madhukar of IBM
  • Marketing Positioning Workshop – Panel Discussion moderated by Srinath Ranga, Director of Opteamize Cloud Solutions.
    • Panelists were Mr. Sivakumar Malli, Advisor at Opteamize Cloud Solutions, Ravishankar Balakrishnan, CEO of Seyasoft, and Sathik Khan, IT Architect.

Our heartfelt thanks to Mani Madhukar who flew in from Bengaluru and Gomathi Nayagam for their participation in the partner meet. To Lawrence Mohanraj, Radhesh Kanumury, Nilkanth Iyer, Rajesh Jeyapaul and Karthik Padmanabhan and to the entire IBM Partner Ecosystem team who have always been supportive of our efforts, a big thank you!

Thanks also to the partners who participated and made the event a grand success. We hope the partners went back with a better understanding of Bluemix and will put the marketing collaterals like standee, brochures, and mementos to good use.

Buoyed by the success of the 1st Corporate Meet, we are now expanding our Services Partner Ecosystem across Tamil Nadu and leveraging our contacts in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.

  • Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Namakkal, Vellore, Vizag, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune.

Criteria to get on board as Services Partner:

  1. The Center/ Institute should be in operation for a minimum of two years.
  2. Infrastructure with a minimum of 8 systems.
  3. Two dedicated full-time employees to coordinate and train students on Bluemix
  4. Should have trained or guided at least 200+ students last year.
  5. Focus on Software and Android projects (Java, PHP, .NET, etc.)

We are confident that the next Partner meet will be a bigger venue with more Services Partners to jointly celebrate our success.
